In the United States, the line between politicians and other public figures is often blurry. Many celebrities are very public in their support of politicians, and have even donated large sums of money to the political causes they’ve deemed worthy. In fact, some celebrities have tricked themselves into believing that their power extends beyond the screen or stage into city councils, and perhaps even, the White House. Although it is possible for one to transition into the other (think Ronald Reagan) the chances are very unlikely. However, slim chances certainly don’t stop people from dreaming, and many fans have decided that their favorite celebrities would look even better sitting behind the desk in the oval office. Here are 10 celebrities who would make great presidents.
10. Matt Damon
According to film director/producer, Academy Award winning actor Matt Damon would make the perfect United States president. During a press conference in 2011, Moore stated: “I think that [Matt Damon] has been very courageous in not caring about who he offends by saying the things that need to be said here, and if you want to win, the Republicans have certainly shown the way — that when you run someone who is popular, you win. Sometimes even when you run an actor, you win. And I guess I only throw his name out there because I’d like us to start thinking that way.” Unfortunately for Moore; however, Damon has not announced any plans to enter the presidential race.

9. Jon Stewart
Satirist Jon Stewart is certainly no stranger to the inner workings of politics. As the host of The Daily Show, Stewart is well versed on the world’s latest events, and – even if he is joking most of the time – has a really interesting point of view. However, thousands of Stewart’s fans eventually hope that he will move his show from the TV set to the oval office. The “Jon Stewart for President” Facebook page currently has over 15,000 likes, and the page’s creator seems to be serious about wanting the talk show funny guy to be the leader of the free world.

8. George Clooney
Likability is one of the most important factors in winning a presidential election, and George Clooney is one of the most likable people in Hollywood. Once considered Hollywood’s most eligible bachelor, Clooney’s good looks and kind demeanor have made him a fan favorite. In 2014, the New York Daily News even went as far as to say that Clooney could possibly be the next JFK. However, while many seem to believe that Clooney would make the perfect president, he doesn’t seem to have plans to run for president.

A good sense of humor is essential to any position of power, and who better to make the entire world laugh than comedian/writer, Tina Fey. However, although she is best-known for her skills as a humorist, Fey is certainly no stranger to politics. Her impersonations of former vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin, have been seen by millions of viewers. Many blogs and social media outlets believe that it is now time for Fey to take her own chances as political fame.

6. Morgan Freeman
Actor Morgan Freeman is one of the most outspoken and opinionated people in Hollywood. Over the years, Freeman has proven that he is never afraid to share his opinion, no matter how controversial it may be. In 2012, Freeman made comments suggesting that he did not believe that Barack Obama should be considered our first black president since he only has one black parent. Although many were critical of his remarks, Freeman remained unbothered – a skill that is necessary for anyone who plans to run for government office. Unfortunately, for those holding out hope that Freeman would eventually make his way to the White House, he has stated that he will “absolutely and unequivocally not” consider running for any public office.

Sadly, Colbert never made it to the White House; however, if enough people can take him seriously, Colbert could potentially be a great president.
